Why Azure
Not the better cloud. The one your employer probably already has.
If an organisation already runs Microsoft everywhere else, Azure is the cloud it reaches for, which is why Azure skills turn up in enterprise IT, banking, healthcare and government work.
01 · Identity is the real reason
If a company bought Microsoft 365, its staff identities already live in Microsoft Entra ID. Azure is then one step away, and AWS would be a second identity estate to govern.
02 · Licensing decides more than architects do
Azure Hybrid Benefit lets an organisation carry existing Windows Server and SQL Server licences onto Azure VMs. For a Windows-heavy estate, that often settles the platform before anyone draws a diagram.
03 · Market position
Microsoft holds about 21% of the cloud infrastructure market against Amazon's 28% and Google's 14% (Synergy Research, Q1 2026): a clear second, and first by a distance where Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory already run.
04 · Built like the enterprise it serves
Every Azure resource lives in a resource group, a real lifecycle and permission boundary, and Azure keeps identity (Entra ID: who you are) apart from authorisation (RBAC: what you may do).
05 · Certification is cheaper to keep
Microsoft renewals are free: a short, open-book online assessment in the six months before expiry. Fundamentals certifications, AZ-900 among them, never expire at all.
06 · One honest warning
Azure renames things far more often than AWS does: Azure AD became Microsoft Entra ID, and Azure AI Foundry became Microsoft Foundry. Checking the current name is itself an Azure skill, and the course teaches it as one.
Syllabus
Ten modules, in the order they make sense
The full syllabus as it is taught, in order.
01Cloud foundations and the Azure platformFoundation
- Service models and the shared responsibility model
- Regions, region pairs and availability zones, and the Central and South India regions
- Management groups, subscriptions, resource groups and Azure Resource Manager
- Three ways to drive Azure: the portal, Azure CLI, and Azure PowerShell with the Az module
- Cloud Shell, and why a browser is enough to administer a subscription
- Naming and tagging conventions that survive contact with a real estate
- Reading Microsoft's service lifecycle: preview against general availability, and checking a service has not been renamed
02Identity with Microsoft Entra IDIdentity
- Microsoft Entra ID against Windows Server Active Directory: what changed, and what only changed name
- Tenants, users, groups and licence assignment
- Guest access with Microsoft Entra B2B, and External ID for customer identity
- Self-service password reset
- Multifactor authentication, and which factors actually help
- Conditional Access policies, and testing one before it locks you out
- Hybrid identity with Microsoft Entra Connect: password hash sync against pass-through authentication
- Service principals and managed identities, so nothing has to hold a password
03Governance, RBAC and cost controlGovernance
- Azure RBAC: built-in roles, custom roles, scope inheritance and effective access
- Azure RBAC against Microsoft Entra roles, the distinction candidates most often get wrong
- Azure Policy: definitions, initiatives, assignments and remediation
- Designing a management group hierarchy you will not regret
- Resource locks, and the tag-inheritance policy that keeps billing honest
- Microsoft Cost Management: budgets, cost alerts, cost analysis and Azure Advisor
- Template specs and deployment stacks, the successors to Azure Blueprints

- Alert rules, action groups and alert processing rules
- VM, Storage and Network Insights
- Recovery Services vaults against Azure Backup vaults, and when each applies

- Azure Site Recovery: replication, failover, failback and running a drill
08Infrastructure as code and automationAutomation
- ARM template anatomy: parameters, variables, resources and outputs
- Bicep syntax and modules, and why it is pleasanter than the JSON underneath
- Deployment modes, and what-if before you apply
- Terraform on Azure with the AzureRM provider, taught as a skill

Mapped onto the AZ-104 outline. Where something is taught but not examined, such as Kubernetes, Terraform or Sentinel, the line says so.
Certification
What is actually on AZ-104
Domain weights from the skills outline Microsoft published on 17 April 2026. Networking, and monitoring and backup, are the ones short courses quietly drop.
- Manage Azure identities and governance20–25%
- Deploy and manage Azure compute resources20–25%
- Implement and manage storage15–20%
- Implement and manage virtual networking15–20%
- Monitor and maintain Azure resources10–15%
Sitting the exams. Both pass at 700 on a scale of 1 to 1,000, which is not 70% of the questions: Microsoft scales the score, and says so. You may consult Microsoft Learn during AZ-104, because it is a role-based exam, but not during AZ-900.
Why AZ-104, when Microsoft is retiring so much else. The Azure administrator path carries no retirement notice, its outline was refreshed in April 2026, it is compulsory for AZ-305, and it is the route into AZ-400 now that the Azure Developer Associate can no longer be earned.
Projects
What you build
Practical Azure, not portal tours. You build an estate the way an administrator would be asked to, then keep it running.
- Build a virtual network with subnets, network security groups and Bastion access
- Deploy virtual machines across availability zones behind a load balancer
- Host a web app on App Service with an Azure SQL database
- Lock it down with Entra ID users, groups and RBAC roles
- Add monitoring, alerts and backup, then run a restore and a recovery drill
Configure, then troubleshoot
Networks, storage, access and applications are configured by hand first, then broken on purpose so you learn to find the fault.
Monitoring as a daily habit
Azure Monitor, alerts and Log Analytics queries, so a problem is noticed before a user reports it.
Identity and governance first
Users, groups, RBAC and Azure Policy are set up before workloads, the way real estates are run.

We joined Unisoft for Linux and Azure training, and the vast knowledge and hands-on explanations we received were just amazing. Before coming to Unisoft, we visited several training centers that promised a 100% job placement with certification. … I would strongly recommend Unisoft for training, as technical skills and in-depth knowledge are essential everything else can be achieved.

FAQ
Questions students ask before joining
Which certification does this course prepare me for?
Azure Fundamentals (exam AZ-900) first, then Azure Administrator Associate (exam AZ-104), the one employers actually ask for. The syllabus is built on the AZ-104 skills outline Microsoft published on 17 April 2026, including the networking and monitoring domains that shorter courses tend to skip; between them they are a quarter to a third of the exam. The exam fee is not included in the course fee.
Can I sit the Azure exams at Unisoft?
Yes. Unisoft is a Pearson VUE Select authorised test centre, and Microsoft exams are delivered through Pearson VUE. Schedule the exam from Microsoft Learn, choose a Pearson VUE test centre and pick Unisoft Technologies, Nagpur. About our test centre
Azure or AWS: which should I learn?
Take one and go deep, and pick it by looking at the jobs you actually intend to apply for. Azure concentrates where an organisation already runs Microsoft: Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Windows Server and SQL Server. In practice that means enterprise IT, IT services firms, global capability centres, banking and government. AWS is stronger in product companies and start-ups. Most of what you learn transfers either way, so finishing one matters more than the choice. We also teach AWS.
Do I need to know Windows Server or Active Directory first?
It helps, and it is not required. Microsoft's own short AZ-104 course assumes on-premises virtualisation, TCP/IP, DNS and Active Directory behind you, plus months of hands-on Azure. This course is built for people without that background, which is why it is much longer and starts from what a subnet is.
Is AZ-104 still current? I have read that Microsoft is retiring exams.
Microsoft has retired several Azure certifications in 2025 and 2026, including the Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) on 31 July 2026. The Azure administrator path is not among them: AZ-104 carries no retirement notice, its outline was refreshed in April 2026, and it remains compulsory for AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert. It is also one of the two routes into AZ-400 DevOps Engineer Expert. (Checked against Microsoft's retirement notices, August 2026.)
Does the certification expire? What does renewal cost?
AZ-900 never expires; no Microsoft fundamentals certification does. AZ-104 lasts a year, and renewing is free: a short online assessment on Microsoft Learn, unproctored and open book, taken any time in the six months before it expires. Passing extends it a year from the expiry date, so renewing early costs you nothing.
What does the exam cost?
Microsoft sets exam prices per country and shows the current one on the exam's own page on Microsoft Learn, so check it there when you book. You pay Microsoft directly; it is not part of the course fee.
How long is the course, and what does it cost?
That depends on the batch and on whether you study in the classroom, live online or one-on-one. Send an enquiry or call +91 95030 05060 for the current duration, fee and next batch date.
Who teaches the course?
Nikhil Sakharwade, who holds Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate himself, earned in June 2026 and current, along with Azure Fundamentals, AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, Red Hat RHCSA, Cisco CCNA and CompTIA A+. His certificates are on this page. His full profile
Do you help with jobs afterwards?
We help with resume building and interview preparation, and we offer placement assistance. We do not promise a job and we do not publish placement percentages; treat any institute that does with suspicion.
Still have a question? Ask a counsellor about the course, the batches or the fee.
