Course Description

In this course you will learn how to configure common Red Hat Enterprise Linux network services. Network and local security tasks are also topics of this course.

Prerequisites:

Red Hat Linux System Administration or equivalent experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux; LAN/WAN fundamentals or equivalent; internet working with TCP/IP or equivalent.

Goal

Upon completion of this course, the successful delegate will be a system administrator who can setup a Red Hat Enterprise Linux server and configure common network services and security at a basic level.

		Networking services on Red Hat Enterprise Linux—server-side setup, configuration, and basic administration of common networking services: DNS, NIS, Apache, SMB, DHCP, Send mail, FTP. Other commonservices: tftp, pppd, proxy.

		Basic elements of a firewall

Candidates can appear for the following Red Hat Certification after completion of the course:
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
The Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification began in 1999 and has been earned by over 10,000 Linux experts. Independent surveys have ranked the RHCE program as #1 overall for all of IT.

The RHCE Certificate is granted upon passing the RHCE Exam, a performance-based test on live equipment that measures actual competencies at server system administration, setup of networking services, network security, diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Examination Structure

		A server install and network services configuration lab (3 hours)
		A troubleshooting and maintenance lab (2.5 hours).
